Warehouse & Distribution Facility
Lululemon
Ravenhall, VIC
With a network of more than 650 stores across the globe. Lululemon commissioned Dexus and Qanstruct to design and construct a new $23 million warehouse and distribution facility to service the growing Australian and New Zealand e-commerce market and their network of 40 physical stores in the region.
Since starting in the Australian market just over a decade ago, Lululemon has been building their presence in the retail space and like many other international companies, building their e-commerce presence. The growth seen in both Australia and New Zealand will now be further fueled by this new distribution facility in Ravenhall.
The new facility is located on a site of nearly 4ha in the heavily industrial suburb of Ravenhall. With great access to major transport routes, Ravenhall is an ideal location for industrial and logistics businesses. Its ongoing development and infrastructure improvements continue to enhance its reputation as a key industrial hub in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
The 21,685 square-metre facility is set on a spacious 3.68-hectare site in the burgeoning Dexus Horizon 3023 industrial estate in Ravenhall. The modern, open-plan office spans 1,215 square-metres across two levels and features polished concrete floors, curved baton and glass walls, boardroom, multiple meeting areas, gymnasium, end of trip facilities, unisex amenities and a parent’s room.
Access to the 21,685 square-metre warehouse is through digital turnstiles to automate and streamline the process of signing in and out of the warehouse floor. Wire-guided, very narrow isle (VNA) racking occupies the majority of warehouse space, with design considerations included to future-proof the building and ensure compliance for the post-PC installation of a mezzanine area and pick tower. Installation of non-combustible insulation blanket and baffled ridge vent will provide workers with thermal comfort when working from the raised platform.
Outside, access to the facility is enabled through 10 recessed docking points and 8 on grade docking points, all covered by large cantilevered canopies to allow for year-round protection from the elements. A sensor driven warning sign hanging above the hardstand entry alerts workers to approaching vehicles.
Featuring a 4-Star Green Star Buildings rating, a 200kW solar system, and an on-site gymnasium, this facility is designed to minimize operating costs while providing a comfortable and well-equipped environment for staff to enjoy.
