Qanstruct Commences National Detector Dog Facility for Australian Customs

Labradors bred and trained by Australian Customs are responsible for preventing hundreds of attempted importations of illegal drugs and other contraband through Australia’s ports, airports and mail services every year.

Set on nearly 9 hectares close to Melbourne Airport, the facility will comprise dog kennels, day runs, several ‘houses’ for training runs, a simulation ‘airport baggage handling’ facility, together with administration and veterinarian facilities.

The project is due for completion in December 2011.
