Hobson Engineering was established in 1935 as an Australian based manufacturing operation in Alexandria in NSW. It has now grown to become the largest fastener company in its chosen product range in Australia with a reputation for quality, innovation, dependability, distribution, stock depth and product range. Some of the product range distributed by Hobson include well known fastener brands such as Nordlock®, Schnorr® and Bumax® and include high tensile, low tensile, structural and stainless fasteners for industries such as construction, petrochemical and earthmoving.
Hobson Engineering has appointed Qanstruct to design and construct a new purpose built Distribution Facility and Head Office on land they acquired in the Logis Industrial Estate in Dandenong South. As an owner occupier, Hobson are looking to deliver a facility that allows for the storage and distribution of fasteners with flat floors capable of operating Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) man pick-ups and accommodating large racking post loads of up to 14 tonnes due to the nature of the product (bolts, washers, nuts etc). The facility will also incorporate limited temperature controlled dangerous goods storage for composite chemical fasteners.
The facility will consist of a 12,902m2 main warehouse with precast dado walls and wall cladding, a single storey 520m2 office, propped Canopies covering a 1,355m2 area and external pavements. Rainwater harvesting will be installed to be reused for toilet flushing, LED lighting throughout and a 100kW solar array system will also be provided as part of Hobson’s environmental sustainability design initiatives.
Completion for this project is expected to be in November of this year.
