In yet another partnership with Dexus, Qanstruct has been engaged to design and construct a 7280m2 Ripening Facility tenanted by Coles and located in Truganina, Victoria.
The facility, which is being designed and constructed to achieve a 5-star Green-Star asbuilt rating, will comprise of 60 double-tier ripening rooms, a 2 level office, a product staging area for product dispatch and receiving, a 2 level operations office in the warehouse, recessed and on grade loading, as well as various plant rooms such as switch rooms, generator rooms and battery charging rooms.
The Coles Ripening Facility, which will be operated by MacKays Ripening will include a Central Ripening System, with all ripening rooms in the facility having continuous ethylene production from one central supply of ‘Ethy-Gen II Ripening Concentrate’, supplying the entire facility with ethylene from one central location.
Qanstruct have partnered with Cross Group, from Ireland, to deliver the specialist component of the facility, offering the latest ripening technology which is not yet available in Australia. The equipment boasts reversible fan technology and new baffle systems to facilitate the ripening process, efficiently and effectively.
The ripening rooms will consist of 40 banana rooms and 20 avocado rooms, all of which will be temperature controlled and will be fitted with specialist gas tight ripening room doors from the Netherlands.
The Coles Ripening Facility is scheduled for completion in December 2019.
