An International Debut

Located at Avalon Airport, Qanstruct has been appointed by Linfox to construct Melbourne’s second International Airport and construction has commenced in earnest. Located east of the existing Domestic Terminal, the International facilities will provide over 7000m2 of terminal space and supporting infrastructure.

“The great thing about building a completely separate terminal is that it won’t affect the domestic operations at all” said Justin Giddings, Avalon Airport CEO

The facility will provide:

  • The latest state of the art Customs Facilities
  • Retail food and beverage lounge
  • Inbound and outbound duty free
  • Regulatory offices for airport operations
  • A simple, efficient and comfortable International Terminal Experience

Air Asia will fly twice daily from the Avalon International Terminal to Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, come the end of the year. When talking about the new Avalon Airport, Julie Bishop our Foreign Affairs Minister said “It’s about more options and the more we can connect with Asia and South-East Asia, which will be the biggest middle-class population in the world, the better it is for economic development and jobs here in Australia”

The new terminal will be capable of exporting 14 tonnes of fresh Victorian Produce daily, will have up to 220,000 passengers annually and will open up more than 200 jobs in the Geelong region.
