The Opening of A New Detector Dog Facility in Banksmeadow Certainly Has All the Dogs Barking

Officially opened on Friday March 2nd 2018 by the Hon Peter Dutton MP, the Minister for Home Affairs, the newly constructed facility is now home for Detector Dog Units from:

  • Australian Border Force;
  • Australian Federal Police; and the
  • Department of Agriculture

With the design and construction of the facility performed by Qanstruct, for the Federal Government, the new residents will enjoy:

  • Purpose built Administrative and Support Facilities
  • Dog Kennel Building
  • Animal Day Runs
  • Training and Agility Facilities

As a first, the three agencies have come together to design an occupy the new purpose-built facility which they now call home. Mr Dutton said, “this is another example of the Government’s commitment to bringing together the very best of Australia’s border and law enforcement agencies and fostering coordination and cooperation across departments and agencies.”

A Qanstruct representative commented, “it was great to take this under-utilised parcel of vacant land and create a very unique place for our Clients to work, and to support them in their role of protecting Australia’s borders.”
